Inhale the fresh mountain air and meet New Zealand's newest gin maker, Justine Schroder, owner of the award-winning Mt Fyffe Distillery.

Mt Fyffe Distillery is a small, artisan boutique distillery set on the foothills of Mt Fyffe, Kaikōura. Using botanicas sourced from around Justine’s family farm and the local Kaikōura environment, Justine created two distinct blends of small batch artisan London dry gin: Woolshed Gin & Shearwater Gin. Enjoy a glass of Justine’s premium gin while listening to her telling you the story as to how the award-winning gin launched in 2021 and learn more about the gin making process first hand. Justine is happy to share her expert knowledge and makes sure that you have the bets gin tasting experience.

Meet
Justine

Justine is the woman behind the small batch artisan distillery. Always having loved gin, Justine took a gin making course in 2019 and so her journey began. Inspired by the many amazing botanics that surrounded her on her sheep farm on the slopes of Mt Fyffe in Kaikōura, Justine recognized their potential for creating her own unique botanical gins.

“I started foraging for botanics and playing with blends and flavours with my shiny new 3 litre Portuguese copper still. The learning curve has been steep, and despite a few hiccups along the way which only made me more determined, I’m very proud to have launched two unique Kaikōura gin’s.” - Justine
When she is not creating the award-winning gin in her small distillery, Justine spends her time helping her husband on the sheep farm and with their two young boys whilst always keeping an eye out for potential new botanics!
Country Calendar Comes to Mt Fyffe Distillery

Earlier this year Country Calendar came to visit Justine and Barry on their farm at the base of Mt Fyffe to see how this dynamic duo operate the beef and sheep farm and gin distillery side by side. It is a welcome insight to the life of this hard working family. We even get to be part of the episode, showcasing our Heli-Gin product.
We are proud to have the Schroders in our community and to team up with Justine to provide a unique experience to our customers, pairing amazing gin, a very passionate distiller with breath taking views from a luxury helicopter - it is a must do!
